Programs

Montessori of Alameda oers programs for children ages 2 months to 6 years old. We oer
two schedules, either “school day” 8:00 am – 3:30 pm or “full day” 8:00 am – 5:30 pm. We
oer a five-day a week program.

Primary children spend three years in one classroom exploring Montessori materials and the
environment. We highly encourage children to stay for their third year (kindergarten) as this is
a time of leadership, confidence-building, and academic mastery. Children solidify
foundational skills through hands-on learning and take on mentoring roles in their classroom
community. Staying for this final year supports a strong, purposeful transition to elementary
school.

Infant Program 2 Months – Crawling

This is a specially prepared environment for our youngest children ages 2 months to crawling.
In our infant classrooms, freedom of movement supports natural motor development and
independence. Responsive caregiving builds trust and nurtures strong attachment between
the child and adult. This peaceful environment honors each infant’s rhythm, fostering
security and joyful exploration.

Wobbler Program Crawling – Walking

Our Montessori wobbler classroom is a carefully prepared environment designed for children
who can crawl but are not yet walking. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy of following the
child, this program supports a gentle transition from the infant rooms to the toddler
community. It fosters independence, exploration, and confidence.

Toddler Program 14 months – 2.5 Years Old

Our Montessori toddler classrooms are carefully prepared environments for children who are
walking up to about 3 years of age. Everything in this environment is designed to support the
toddler’s drive to “do it myself” – from dressing and toileting to serving snacks and cleaning
up. At the same time, consistent routines, loving relationships, and clear boundaries help
toddlers feel secure as they learn to express themselves, connect with others, and grow in
independence and self-esteem.

Primary Program 2.5 – 6 Years Old

The primary program is prepared to help children cultivate their intrinsic desire to learn.
Children are free to learn at their own pace in this stimulating, nurturing environment. Our
primary program accommodates three full years, including kindergarten–there is no ceiling.
This unique feature of Montessori schools allows for unparalleled leadership and academic
growth. Our uninterrupted morning work cycles give children the time and space to settle
into concentration. Children are encouraged to complete a work from start to finish and
repeat it as many times as they want to before moving on. Montessori fosters deep thinking
and independence, and that starts with honoring the child’s need for focus.
